The Quad Exposed

by on Oct.29, 2018, under Life, Photography

So it has been many months since I’d posted any images and even longer since I’d actually taken any serious landscapes. Alas due to an injury not all that long after this was taken (over 12 months ago) I’ve found it difficult to physically shoot (a frozen right shoulder has drastically impinged my movement and usability of my right arm)

This was taken on a trip to Sydney University with my eldest daughter. Here we have a full 360 degree spread out view taken from the centre of the Quadrangle in the middle of the Great Hall – stand in the middle and spin around with the left and right edges meeting up 🙂

In fact here I’ve loaded into a pano viewer for you so you can spin around and see for yourself 🙂

Below you have the original flattened out panoramic image

Note: These photographs (especially the wider shots) look much better when larger. To see larger versions in an inline overlay slideshow gallery viewer click any of the images.

The Quad Exposed

NIKON D750 + 12.0 mm f/2.8 @ 12 mm, 1/2 sec at f/5.6, ISO 100 x 56 Frames

It was taken during the dying stages of twilight (after sunset) and as you can see it was, alas, raining…

It’s a full 360Ëš panoramic stitch of eight (8) sets of seven (7) bracketed frames (at +-1EV increments taken around a centre slightly underexposed (-1 and 2/3rds EV) frame) which were blended together. So basically 56 separate frames mushed together to create this mess 🙂

The University of Sydney

by on Oct.26, 2018, under Life, Photography

A little over 18 months ago!! I took my eldest daughter to The University of Sydney for a tutoring session (she was in Year 12 – her final year of high school). I figured I was going to be there for a while waiting for her so I took my tripod, camera and the diminutive Laowa 12mm super ultra wide to spend the time shooting some of the old architecture there

The Great Hall at The University of Sydney is one of those very grand Harry Potteresque style buildings – a large rectangular structure of hallways and building surrounding a large open grassed quadrangle

NIKON D750 + 12.0 mm f/2.8 @ 12 mm, 1/5 sec at f/8, ISO 100

It was alas fully raining and just heading on sunset so I spend most of my time roaming the indoors

This final shot was taken in the Fisher Library looking straight up inside
