Nikon Z 24-200 Testing at 24/35/50/70/105/135/200mm

by on Jul.13, 2020, under Photography

I was down near Sydney Harbour today so I took my Nikon Z7 and the new Nikon Z 24-200mm all-in-one lens

It was a nice bright day (tho it was still a touch hazy on the harbour) so I decided to take some test shots for those who might be interested. I’ve taken shots across a range of focal lengths (24, 35, 50, 70, 105, 135 and 200mm). All were taken (handheld) of approximately the same scene @ f/8. Focus was at the far distance (e.g. bridge, city, opera house)

Note: all images are essentially untouched (other than syncing the white balance within each set) – just exported from Lightroom as JPEGs

Rather than showing you 100% crops of various areas of each image. Or talking in detail about the relative sharpness of various focal lengths (for me it appears to be pretty sharp across the board at any focal length – perhaps slightly weak on the extreme left and right edges @ 24mm). Or the level of vignetting compared to other similar lenses (like the F-Mount Nikon 24-120 (which has IMHO terrible vignetting – esp at 24 and 120mm) and the Nikon 28-300)

Instead – if you click on any of the images below you’ll get the full resolution (jpeg @ quality 80%) image so you can take a look for yourselves and pixel peep to your hearts content
