I was driving up to Cape Leveque to spend the night. However I made a little side detour towards Willies Creek on the way

This was one of those locations I’d recce’d via Google Maps before coming on this trip

I wasn’t really sure where I’d best be able to take off from to get some aerial shots of this location

In the end I decided to stop near where Manari Rd heads off to Willie Creek Pearl Farm from the main Cape Leveque road and shoot from a distance

Wriggle Room

With a quick side trip via Derby we headed to Broome to stay for a few nights

I’d be leaving the others (and the vans) for two days. I was driving up to Cape Leveque to stay a night at Kooljaman

Oh and this image so brings me memories of Broome – that very greeny blue water, the mangroves and the red sand – all beneath clear blue skies

The main attraction of Windjana is the scenic gorge carved by the Lennard River, through the Napier Range

We were staying the night here in the national park

The walls of Windjana Gorge rise abruptly from the wide alluvial floodplain of the Lennard River, reaching about 100 metres high in some places. The 3.5-kilometre long gorge cuts through the limestone of the Napier Range; part of an ancient barrier reef

The Lennard River runs through the gorge in wet weather, but during the dry season it forms pools surrounded by trees and shrubs.
