Cairns – FNQ – Day 6…

by on Oct.11, 2011, under Life, Photography

Spent the day lazing around (recovering from our big day out on the reef).

Went for a walk along the full length of the beach outside our place and captured a few shots of the family having fun on the sand along with a another group of small children having a great time at the beach…

That night we walked to a local restaurant where we had a great meal (after I shot a few sunset photos over the lagoon – a nice stable stone wall made for a great “tripod”).

As we were walking back to our apartment I noticed these lily flowers (which were down in a water drain channel) were blooming (I think they might only come out at night because they were all closed whenever I saw them during the day) so after we got back to the room I grabbed my gear and came back to take a few shots as I light painted the flowers with my LED torch.

This particular one is half lit on one side by street lighting on the other side of the road (thus the orange glow) and I lit from the other side with my torch which has a much cooler light (thus the white) – note that the flower petals are actually just white when normally lit to the naked eye.
